Custom Symbols
Sometimes you may deem it necessary to add additional context to a safety symbol to enhance
the understanding of its safety message. This is where adding more product-related detail
to a symbol comes into play. Clarion has perfected graphical representation methods using
state-of-the-art design software that allows us to efficiently illustrate your hazard information.
Additional Symbol Panels
Clarion can add additional symbols to your customized safety label design in order to communicate
more information in symbolic form. The first symbol used on a safety label typically describes
the primary hazard. Additional symbols can either describe additional hazards or describe
hazard avoidance information. Note that whereas other manufacturers charge for additional
cost of adding colors, Clarion does NOT CHARGE for the additional safety colors
used on your safety label.
Custom Translated Labels
Clarion routinely manufactures foreign language safety labels for its customers. The illustrations
shown on this page shows you the most common formatting options used for foreign language
safety labels: Add-on safety labels that are placed next to your English safety labels, completely separate
foreign versions, or bilingual versions that combine the English and foreign language
text/signal word panels onto one safety label. (Note that you may also want to consider using
an ISO-formatted symbol in the symbol panel instead of the non-ISO formatted symbol as
shown below.)
Clarion routinely produces foreign language safety labels in small and large quantities. The
following is just a partial list of the languages we are capable of producing to meet
your custom safety label requirements:

In short, no language is beyond our capability. Clarion uses the best
translation services available, experts who consider context, the nature
of the hazard, and regional dialects. Translation fees will apply for new
translations. If you choose to provide Clarion with your own
translation, we ask that all language text that utilizes Roman characters
be provided to Clarion as a Word document. Non-Roman text should be provided
to Clarion as Adobe Illustrator .ai or .eps files with the text appearing in
"OUTLINE" form (Type Menu/Create Outlines). Type setting fees
may apply.
Different Materials
Clarion's standard safety labels are produced on the top-of-the-line premium quality 3M white polyester material with a
permanent pressure sensitive acrylic adhesive that has high ratings for adhesion to BOTH low and high energy
surfaces (including powder coated finishes). If your application requires an aluminum base material or a
textured surface such as a velvet polycarbonate, Clarion can produce that as well. If you need heat resistance
beyond the 300°F of our standard polyester, we can produce anodized aluminum plates for you that use a
special hi-temp 3M adhesive rated to 450°F, and/or with holes for mechanical fasteners.
Contact Clarion to ask about any material requirement you might have.
