WEEE Directive 2002/96/EU: The WEEE (Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment) Directive requires manufacturers, sellers and distributors to mark products that fall within the scope of this directive with the "crossed out wheelie bin" symbol designed to specifications set forth in EN 50419:2005.
